Where is the best free PHP / SQL learning resource?
Question by David B: Where is the best free PHP / SQL learning resource?
I want to learn PHP and SQL. I’ve looked into it in the past but didn’t get far as the book I was using was a it out of date and hard to follow. I’ve done programming before so I know the basics – I don’t need it explaining what scope and variables are yet again for example. I know HTML and CSS but want to take it further so PHP is next.
Where is the best place to start learning, from scratch? I’d need to set up Apache and MySQL on my computer and go from there. Two things I’m looking for are:
1) a good, easy to understand, free, PHP/SQL tutorial, from the beginning.
2) a simple install package for Apache/SQL, so I don’t have to spend 3 hours configuring Apache’s bloody data files.

What kind of interview? you mean like for a web design agency?
If you made programs using PHP, SQL AND javascript, you should be able to pass.
go to w3shcools.org and prepare youself, memorize the topics, make sure you got down setting up servers, setting up databases in SQL, making a mail form in PHP, and varifying information on forms with javascript.

Where on the Web can I find the best PERL tutorials for CGI and SQL?
Question by Doug: Where on the Web can I find the best PERL tutorials for CGI and SQL?
I have been studying PERL very hard all quarter, and it seems like everything on the Internet is written by people who either don’t know what they are doing or are too smart to explain it to someone who is a beginner. I am trying to make a database for a fictitious site for a school project, where it keeps track of customers’ orders. Right now I have it so that a person can enter their order into the database, but I need to make a GUI where a webmaster can make alterations to the database and print up reports from searchs and invoices. I will be working on it all night tonight and all day tomorrow, but tomorrow night my college project is due. Help me if you can. I really want to get into CGI, both PERL and PHP. Thank you…I’ve been struggling with it for almost three months. You can even email me your suggestions if you are so inclined.

This is the first book that covers version 3.1, the latest version of phpMyAdmin, and it has been fully updated from the previous version that covered phpMyAdmin Version 2.11. This book acts as a comprehensive guide to unlocking the full potential of phpMyAdmin. Through this book users will learn to build a more detailed understanding of SQL and how it works in MySQL. You could go with a book if you want, but then there is always the chance of them not having exactly what you’re after in them. I’d suggest just using a search engine to find the exact tutorials you need. There are a few sites out there that go through all the ‘necessities’ as well for begginers.
I used this site for PHP: http://www.phpro.org/tutorials/Introduction-to-PHP-PDO.html
But there’s many more out there…
